Foot pain? Bunions?

Bunions – family not footwear to blame

From BBC News / May 20, 2013

A bunion is a bony bump on the base of the big toe that is caused by the big toe pointing towards the other toes and forcing out the base of the bone attached to it. Bunions can be a source of great pain, swelling, and tenderness due to the structural changes that occur in the foot along with the use of improper footwear. A recent study reveals that shoes alone will not cause bunions. Having a genetic predisposition to developing bunions causes a greater susceptibility and incidence of the condition. Poor footwear can, however, exacerbate bunions.
